What you’ll find here
The Daily Five is new each day. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard; Easy uses familiar everyday words and direct clues. All puzzles holds every crossword, word search, word scramble, Sudoku, maze and Common Ground puzzle we have published, so you can play one from a day you missed. Challenge packs gather puzzles around a theme, and your Passport keeps your stamps, stars and badges.
How the puzzles are made
Every puzzle starts with a theme, such as a slow morning, a woodland walk or the kitchen table. The word lists and clues for each theme are written for Sunday Anyday with the help of AI writing tools. Our own puzzle-making software then builds the boards: it places words in word search and crossword grids, mixes the letters for scrambles, sets the Sudoku numbers and draws the mazes. Before a puzzle is published, automatic checks confirm it is fair. Every Sudoku has exactly one solution. Every crossword is connected and fully clued. Every hidden word can be found in only one place. Every scramble’s letters spell its answer, and every maze has a single route to its exit.
No clocks, no lives
There are no countdowns and no lost lives. Each board has 3 free hints, and checking your letters or numbers is always free. Your progress saves automatically in your browser, so you can stop part way and pick up later. You don’t need an account to play.
How Sunday Anyday stays free
The puzzles are free to play, and advertising helps keep them that way. We keep ads out of the way: a full-screen ad never appears before your first puzzle, and only ever between games, never in the middle of one.
